Abstract

This article examines one of the key trends in contemporary global journalism, its differentiation and specialization. It provides a critical overview of scholarly perspectives on this phenomenon and analyzes existing definitions of specialized media offered by foreign theorists, and presents the author’s own interpretation of the concept. Particular attention is given to the role and mechanisms of public relations (PR) influence within the framework of specialized publications. The study explores the typology, functions, and significance of such media in the modern information landscape, analyzes the classification of medical and health-oriented publications, assessing their potential impact in the context of PR strategies, and discusses the effectiveness of PR technologies in medical journals and newspapers. A comparative review of the typology and historical evolution of medical media in Germany, the USA, the UK, and China is provided, alongside an examination of national developments in Uzbekistan. The professionalism, credibility, and openness of contemporary medical publications in communicating with audiences are emphasized as essential factors of success. Furthermore, the article highlights the distinction between PR and advertising, underscoring the subtle, long-term nature of PR communication. It reveals how PR materials contribute to shaping public opinion on health-related issues, fostering trust, and encouraging civic engagement. The necessity of professional, ethical, and audience-oriented approaches in producing PR content is also underlined. The study concludes that specialized media have become indispensable instruments for building sustainable, longterm, and effective communication with the public.
