Abstract

This article analyzes the use of visual elements in Uzbek media texts and their role in enhancing informational content, attracting reader attention, and increasing effectiveness. The study examines materials from the newspapers “Jadid” and “Hurriyat” as examples, focusing on visual elements such as images, infographics, color, typography, and page composition. The research is relevant because visual culture in modern Uzbek press is continually evolving, serving as the primary means of engaging readers, clearly conveying content, and aiding information retention. However, the linguistic, semiotic, and communicative functions of visual elements in newspapers like "Jadid" and "Hurriyat" have not been sufficiently studied from a scientific perspective. The research aims to identify the methods of using visual elements in Uzbek media texts and analyze their impact on reader perception and textual effectiveness. To this end, the study examines newspaper page design, the selection of images and infographics, and the harmony of color and typography. It evaluates their contribution to information transmission and emotional impact. As practical outcomes, the article provides recommendations for modern journalism practice: it demonstrates that the communicative effectiveness of media texts can be increased by judiciously selecting visual elements, avoiding overload and manipulative imagery, and ensuring harmony in page composition and color-typography combinations. The scientific novelty of the research lies in its pioneering analysis of the linguistic and semiotic functions of visual elements in Uzbek newspapers. The article enables the study of media texts not only textually but also in visual, psychological, and cultural contexts. Additionally, it strengthens the scientific foundations for analyzing visual journalism through the "Visual Grammar" theory and multimodal approach.
