Abstract

The relevance of the research is due to its focus on the analysis of the latest verb borrowings, reflecting modern processes in the language. The novelty of the work is determined by the identification of factors influencing the choice of verb suffixes, which serve for the grammatical adaptation of modern English borrowings to the Russian language system. During the research, morphemic and morphonological analysis methods were used. The work highlights the tasks of grammatical adaptation of borrowings that determine the choice of a suffix: 1) the complete preservation of the sound shell of the prototype from the source language; 2) compliance with the law of consistency, that is, compliance with the linguistic system of the acceptor language; 3) compliance with the law of economy. It is concluded that the choice between the most frequent suffixes for grammatical adaptation of the latest verb borrowings from the English language is determined by different types of conjugation corresponding to these suffixes and, accordingly, different types of morphonological transformations. When using the suffix -и-, alternations occur at the junction of the root and the suffix or at the junction of the stem and the ending; as a result, the principle of preservation of the sound shell of the prototype from the source language is violated. When using the suffix -а- interfixation occurs at the junction of the stem and ending; as a result, the sound shell of the prototype from the source language is preserved, but the linguistic law of economy is violated.
