EXPRESSION OF EVALUATION MEANINGS IN THE PRECEDENT NAMES OF THE MEDIA DISCOURSE
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the features of evaluative meanings and their expression through precedent names. Media discourse, as an important area of language activity, plays a significant role in shaping public opinion. Precedent names found in media texts can not only inform but also influence the perception of the audience by expressing evaluative meanings. Evaluation meanings correlate with the concept of value and can be determined by five criteria: axiological, emotive, objective-subjective, comparative, and contextual. These criteria make it possible to confirm or disprove the peculiarities of the perception of value meanings expressed in the language unit, including in the precedent name. The understanding of the manifestations of evaluative meanings was carried out on the example of precedent names used in media discourse and widely used in Internet publications. The study concluded that the assessment correlates with the presence of value components of the object, which is of particular importance for determining the features of precedent names since their reproducibility is due to the breadth of use associated with the value and significance of the mentioned name. The study of evaluative meanings in the precedent names of media discourse is important for understanding the language mechanisms of forming public opinion and manipulating it in the media space.
