Abstract

This article is dedicated to exploring the peculiarities of translating culturally specific elements and the national-cultural worldview in literary texts, using the example of the translation of Gafur Guliam’s work “Menning Ogrigina Bolam” from Uzbek to English by M.Saidumurova. The study analyzes key translation problems and methods aimed at preserving both semantic and literary value of the original text. Special attention is given to applying various translation strategies such as literal translation, transliteration, calque, and descriptive translation to convey cultural realities, idioms, and phraseological units. The impact of these methods on preserving cultural context, emotional tone, and literary devices of the original is examined. Specific examples from the translated text illustrate the challenges encountered in adapting nationally specific elements and their influence on the perception of the text by the target audience. The article emphasizes the significance of cultural and contextual adaptation in literary translation. It underscores the importance of a deep understanding of both the source and target cultures to ensure translation adequacy. The study concludes that high-quality translation requires linguistic skills and cultural competence, ensuring the preservation of the artistic and emotional value of the text in translation.
