Abstract

The article discusses the relevance of promoting media literacy among the population of Uzbekistan at the present stage. The unprecedented development of digital technologies expands the range of digital content in Uzbekistan's media environment. The dissemination of information by all available digital means blurs professional boundaries between official media, journalists, influencers, bloggers in the issues of processing, collection, storage and transmission of information, leaving each user alone in the endless flow of information. In this regard, to study the media consumption of the population from a practical point of view using a quantitative research method, an online survey among 1,066 respondents in Uzbekistan was conducted from April to June 2023. The survey made it possible to identify key areas for developing media literacy in the country. The survey results are important for developing an effective strategy to promote media literacy in Uzbekistan, particularly when developing a practical action plan. . In addition, the study emphasizes the need to conduct regular surveys to monitor the media preferences of the population and to ensure the systematic collection of quality data on the facts of misinformation in Uzbekistan's media space.
