In the context of globalization, intensified migration processes, and the expansion of the global information space, the preservation and transformation of national identity have become particularly significant. The author examines national identity as a complex socio-cultural phenomenon shaped by  historical development, language, cultural values, andcollective consciousness.. The study reviews theoretical perspectives of prominent scholars such as Benedict Anderson, Eric Hobsbawm, Anthony D. Smith, and Samuel Huntington, linking their ideas to the role of media in constructing and disseminating national identity. The article examines the influence of mass media on public consciousness, the formation of national values, and the risks of stereotypes, manipulation, and mass culture. The article also discusses the impact of cosmopolitan ideas on national identity and the potential threat of cultural homogenization. The study highlights the professional responsibility of journalists and media practitioners to consider national and cultural specifics when producing media content. The findings show that mass media function as a powerful social institution capable of strengthening national identity and safeguarding cultural heritage in the modern globalized world.
