Abstract

This article examines the ethnolinguistic features of the dialect spoken in Madaniyat Village, Baxmal District, Jizzakh Region. The primary aim of the study is to reveal the distinctive linguistic culture, national values, and worldview of the local population through dialectal units preserved in the speech of the community. The study employs descriptive, comparative-historical, componential, semantic, and ethnolinguistic methods of analysis. The research material consists of linguistic data collected from the Madaniyat Village dialect. The analysis demonstrates that kinship terms, lexical units associated with rituals and customs, lexemes expressing folk beliefs and mythological conceptions, children's folklore, material culture, the natural and geographical environment, and axiological vocabulary constitute important conceptual domains reflecting the ethnocultural experience of the local population. The study establishes that dialectal units perform not only a nominative function but also serve as linguistic markers that preserve the community's historical memory, social relations, moral values, and cultural identity. Furthermore, the mountainous natural environment of Baxmal and traditional economic activities are shown to be important extralinguistic factors in the formation of the dialect's lexical inventory. The scholarly novelty of the study lies in the first systematic analysis of the linguistic materials of the Madaniyat Village dialect using a comprehensive ethnolinguistic approach. The findings contribute to the fields of Uzbek dialectology, ethnolinguistics, and linguocultural studies, while also facilitating the documentation and scholarly incorporation of elements of intangible cultural heritage preserved in local dialects.
