Abstract
This article discusses the linguoregional, linguocultural and semantic features of paremiological units in which the metonym rain is involved. The role of metonyms in linguistics, their study, as well as the linguocultural, semantic and territorial features that express them when they appear in paremiological units were studied. The linguocultural, semantic and territorial features of proverbs and sayings related to the phenomenon of rain and rainfall in the French language material were analyzed and how the phenomenon of rain was reflected in the socio-cultural life and values of French departments were analyzed. It was also shown through examples that these units show national and territorial identity and in this process, the diverse features of local culture, folk lifestyle, values, as well as the territorial-cultural landscape of departments are revealed. The article analyzes the linguistic and cultural aspects of the spiritual world of the inhabitants of French departments, which relate to the relationship between man and nature, as reflected in the paremiological units of the metonym of rain. Using selected examples, it is shown that it is possible to get an idea of the daily routines and traditions of the people of this region through what and how rain affects them. The fact that the inhabitants of different regions have different attitudes to rainfall on a given day, month or season and the factors that play a role in the different attitudes were shown through the analysis of examples. The article also examined the connotative properties of the words included in the examples.
