ON THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ISSUES OF CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS
Abstract
This article explores the theoretical foundations of conceptual analysis and its practical applications. The analysis is conducted at the intersection of cognitive linguistics and cultural linguistics. The connection between language and thought is currently recognized as a central issue in linguistics. This study, framed within cognitive linguistics, utilizes empirical data to analyze the content, structure, and national and cultural characteristics of concepts, as well as their manifestation in language. It also examines the methodological principles, research methods, and scientific approaches relevant to conceptual analysis. The article specifically investigates the concept of LANGUAGE in the unrelated languages of English and Uzbek, focusing on its representation in various linguistic elements, including simple words, derivatives, phraseological units, proverbs, and aphorisms. Additionally, it highlights their national and cultural characteristics, as well as their similarities and differences. The study develops cognitive models related to the concept of LANGUAGE, demonstrating its status not only as a means of communication but also as a mental unit. The cognitive models discussed include LANGUAGE – POWER, LANGUAGE – CAUSE, LANGUAGE – EFFECT, LANGUAGE – PERIODIC DEVELOPMENT, LANGUAGE – CHARACTER, LANGUAGE – LIE, LANGUAGE – AUTHORITY, and LANGUAGE – EMOTION. The findings of this study strengthen the theoretical framework of conceptual analysis while enhancing its practical effectiveness. This work contributes significantly to a deeper understanding of the intricate relationships between language and thought and identifies new directions for scientific research.
