Abstract

A phraseological unit is a stable word combination consisting of two or moreword components that are applied in a transferred meaning to varying degrees, have the opportunity to figuratively describe sensory processes and reality, and reflect the activity of a person in different spheres to some extent. The development of modern linguistic trends, especially cultural linguistics and cognitive linguistics, necessitates the study of phraseological units in linguoculturological and linguocognitive aspects. In these areas, the onomastic component layer of the phraseological system is of particular importance, as it clearly reflects the encyclopedic information inherent in a particular people and reflects national and cultural characteristics. In the human memory, this encyclopedic information is stored in the cognitive structure of a conceptual system, forming phraseological units that have a new associative meaning and the ability to be used metaphorically at different levels. This article aims to conduct a blending analysis in the theory of conceptual integration, one of the cognitive mechanisms of which is actively involved in the metaphorical application of phraseological units with an anthroponymic component in English and Uzbek languages, belonging to the subsystem of phraseological units with onomastic components. It has become clear that the blending analysis of phraseological units with anthroponymic components with transferred meanings in English and Uzbek has not been sufficiently studied in the theory of conceptual integration. Based on this, this article recognizes the existence of specific features of the metaphorical usage of phraseological units with an anthroponymic component under a common conceptual framework in the languages in comparison.
