CREOLIZED TEXT: CONCEPT AND TYPOLOGY (BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OF INTERNET MEMES)
Abstract
The article defines the concept of “creolized text”, Internet meme (or Internet phenomenon) and describes the types of creolized texts, creolized Internet memes based on Russian- and Englishlanguage Internet memes. A review of different scientists’ views on the problem of creolized text is carried out and, based on the previously proposed classifications of a number of scientists, a linguistic and semiotic analysis of Internet memes is performed. The authors come to the conclusion that the number of creolized memes on the Internet prevails over other types, and the main meaningforming component is the verbal part. The linguistic aspect of the study emphasizes that in Internet memes, violation of the literary norm of language is a characteristic phenomenon caused by various reasons. Also, when constructing text in Internet memes, the use of various means of expressive speech is often observed, for example, as a pun, which reveals the creative function of language and aims to achieve a comic effect. In general, Internet memes are a reflection of the functioning of a language, where the existence of its different forms is observed, and therefore it becomes an object of study by modern scientists.
